The Costco Phenomenon

I have a love-hate relationship with Costco!  I love the bargains that can be found and the low pricing available on staples my husband and I get there weekly but I hate when they move said items to different parts of the store!  Now, instead of getting in and getting out, I have to traverse the entire store (and as a result, find other items I can't do without!) to find where they moved the item I am currently looking for…talk about marketing geniuses.

So, I found an interesting article recently that discusses how to maximize your Costco membership because, let's face it, whether you love or hate Costco, they definitely are doing something right!

  1. Great discounts on movies and gift cards in the gift card aisle
  2. Did you know that you can get a good size hot dog and soda for only $1.50 or a large pizza for just $10?
  3. Need to rent a car or schedule a vacation?  Costco has awesome deals available to members.  I can vouch for the car rentals – they are definitely less money than going direct through the rental company – every time.
  4. Prescriptions are less expensive
  5. And you can get free health screenings
  6. The gas at their pumps is much cheaper and usually the pumps are right in the parking lot so you can go shopping right after you fill up
  7. Need new tires?  Sometimes the discounts offered on name-brand tires will offset the price of a membership alone
  8. They carry really good wines and offer wine tasting at many locations.  Even non-members can get alcohol at Costco.

Cheers!
